George Ikonomou


George joined Whitelaw Twining as an articled student in 2021 and was called to the Bar in 2022.  He practices in the area of insurance and commercial litigation, with a developing focus in insolvency and technology. He has appeared on behalf of clients in matters before the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia.

George completed his law degree at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.  Throughout law school, he provided pro bono public services in Exeter’s Legal Clinic, competed and won many negotiation competitions and was Vice-President of the Greek/Cypriot Society.  Before returning to Vancouver to complete his accreditation exams, he summered at an international law firm in London.

George is an avid learner and strives to expand his legal knowledge.  He placed second in Baker McKenzie’s (Deutschland) Boost Legal Innovation Challenge, focusing on challenges faced in the technology (drone) sector in Europe and the United States. He provided innovative solutions to address these concerns.  George also played an integral role in the restructuring of a $13 million Cannabis company.

In his spare time, George enjoys playing beach volleyball at Spanish Banks, travelling, and reminiscing stories of growing up in the family restaurant business.
