Maria joined Whitelaw Twining as an associate in 2021 and practices general insurance litigation. Prior to joining Whitelaw Twining, Maria practiced personal injury and class actions at a boutique solicitor firm in Calgary. Maria has appeared in matters before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench.
While attending law school in London, England, Maria served as Client Interviewing Officer of the Law Society as well as co-president of her cohort. Maria was also an active volunteer at the Surrey Legal Clinic and the National Center for Domestic Violence against women, helping a wide range of individuals with civil and family matters.
Maria is passionate about building strong relationships with her clients and is dedicated to advocating on their behalf by finding creative ways of analyzing legal issues in order to achieve efficient solutions. She leverages her multi-cultural upbringing to understand and recognize different perspectives, the client’s needs and to better advise them on their legal matters.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys travelling, skiing, spending time with family and friends as well as taking her dog for long walks in the park.
