Mike Nienhuis

Profile

Mike joined WT as Counsel in 2024. Prior to joining the firm, Mike practiced in the area of business law at both national and local firms. Before his legal career, Mike worked as an executive with technology companies in Vancouver, Seattle, and San Diego, responsible for sales and operations in North America, Europe, and Asia.

He frequently draws on his business experience to develop an understanding of his clients’ businesses and transactions, spanning a range of industry sectors. He has advised First Nations and business enterprises on acquisitions, dispositions, development, construction, leasing, and financing involving First Nations lands, as well as general commercial agreements and the formation of joint ventures and partnerships.

Mike is known for providing responsive, strategic, and practical legal advice in support of his clients’ business objectives. He is a frequent speaker on First Nations land development issues and has served on various non-profit boards throughout his career. He is passionate about helping Indigenous communities fulfill their economic potential.

Outside of work, Mike likes to take his golden doodle, Monty, on long walks.
