Gordon has conducted hundreds of trials and appeals throughout Canada up to the level of the Supreme Court of Canada, in English and French, having worked in every province and territory. He conducts an Indigenous and Aboriginal law practice across Canada that focuses on Indigenous peoples’ litigation and negotiation issues, including s. 35 Constitution Act, 1982 Aboriginal and Treaty rights cases, Comprehensive, Specific and Special claims, governance and consultation & accommodation on development projects. His precedent-setting Indigenous rights cases and negotiations have attracted national media attention.
He previously served as Negotiator, Senior Negotiator and Portfolio Manager of Comprehensive and Specific Claims with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, as well as a Federal Crown Prosecutor with the Department of Justice Canada.
He is the author of four law books published by Thomson Reuters Carswell, Matthew Bender/LexisNexis, and Les Éditions Yvon Blais.
He offers clients creative and effective solutions to their contentious legal challenges, both in and out of court, as well as advising on Indigenous and Aboriginal law, public and constitutional law.
