Bao joined Whitelaw Twining as an Associate in 2021. He maintains a general civil litigation practice, primarily in the area of insurance defence with a growing focus in construction and commercial disputes. He utilizes his technical background to assist clients navigate through legal challenges, while recognizing and mitigating unforeseen risks.
Prior to joining the firm, Bao was called to the Ontario Bar after completing his Articles with a large insurance company. During his Articles, he helped resolve matters involving occupier’s liability, product liability, multi-party construction litigation, and automobile accidents. He has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court, Small Claims Court, and Landlord Tenant Board.
During law school, Bao worked as a Supervising Caseworker at the Community Legal Services Clinic and Pro Bono Students Canada, servicing a wide demographic of clients regarding civil and criminal matters. He takes great interest in his clients and invests wholly in helping them resolve legal problems, as an advocate both in and out of the courtroom.
Bao received his Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario in 2020, following a Master’s of Biomedical Technology from the University of Calgary. In his graduate studies, Bao researched cardiovascular disease prevention in astronauts through pharmacological solutions.
Outside of his legal practice, Bao cycles during the warmer months and can be found skiing in the winter. He also enjoys following the sport of Olympic Weightlifting.
