Brett Layton

Profile

Brett Joined Whitelaw Twining as an Associate in 2022 after completing his articling term with the firm. He maintains a general litigation practice primarily in the area of insurance defence.

Prior to joining Whitelaw Twining, Brett completed his JD at the University of Calgary and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mount Royal University. During his studies he played varsity basketball for the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University.

Throughout law school, Brett Volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada in the Family Law Duty Counsel project. In doing so, Brett gained experience working with clients in civil matters. Brett is dedicated to providing a client centric approach to his practice and is invested in helping them resolve their legal problems.

Outside the practice of law, Brett enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids. He also enjoys anything related to sports, reading, and spending time outdoors.
