Isabella De Bortoli

Profile

Isabella joined Whitelaw Twining as a summer student in 2021. She returned for her articles in 2022 and was called to the Bar in 2023. During her time at Whitelaw Twining as a student, Isabella benefited from the opportunity to practice in various areas of civil litigation, further developing her legal skills.

She presently practices in the area of insurance defence, with a keen interest in professional liability. Isabella is a passionate advocate for her clients. Further, Isabella’s dedication and attention to detail allows her to resolve complex legal issues.

With respect to education, Isabella received her Juris Doctor degree from Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. Prior to attending law school, Isabella graduated with distinction from Simon Fraser University with a Legal Studies certificate and a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Criminology and minoring in Psychology.

Throughout her academic career, Isabella maintained an active role in local legal communities by supporting Vancouver’s Downtown Community Court partnership with the Elizabeth Fry Society, and volunteering with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program. Isabella also participated in the UBC Innocence Project clinical program and acted as a legal research assistant in the context of refugee law.

In her personal time, Isabella enjoys exploring hiking trails, trying new recipes and spending quality time with friends and family. Isabella also contributes to community initiatives on an ongoing basis.
