Profile

Gerry Gill is a senior litigator who has dedicated his career to either working for, or servicing clients in the insurance industry, with a focus on financial and specialty lines.  Prior to entering private practice, Gerry held a senior claims position with a Canadian commercial and specialty lines insurer, where he was responsible for all management, executive and professional lines claims, including directors’ and officers’ (D&O) liability and professional negligence matters.

Gerry’s practice includes D&O liability, coverage and property disputes, professional liability, employment practices liability and cyber and privacy.  With respect to his cyber and privacy practice, Gerry routinely acts a breach coach and privacy counsel, where he is on the “front lines” assisting his clients in responding to cyber-attacks and privacy breaches.

Gerry’s practice is evenly divided between defending claims against directors, officers and a variety of professionals, such as architects, engineers, insurance brokers, financial planners, home inspectors, paralegals and mortgage brokers, and acting as coverage counsel for insurers with a particular emphasis on D&O, employment practices liability (EPL), errors & omissions and construction and property claims.

Gerry regularly presents on cyber topics, coverage developments, EPL issues and risk management for professionals.  Gerry has successfully represented his client in both the Superior Court and Court of Appeal.

In his free time, Gerry dabbles with his turntable, cheers his kids on at soccer, hockey and boxing, works out with his wife, and stresses over whether the Blue Jays will finally make it to the World Series again.
