Profile

Raya maintains a broad insurance defence practice, acting on behalf of domestic and international insurers in professional liability matters (civil and regulatory proceedings), property claims, complex bodily injury matters, hospitality and liquor claims and employment and human rights claims. In 2022, she completed a secondment with a London market underwriting firm where she assisted in claims handling services. This experience provided Raya with unique insight and understanding of the claims process from an insurer’s perspective.

Raya leads the firm’s Retail Risks Specialty Group, which focuses on claims including product liability claims, serious bodily injury, occupier’s liability, lease and service agreements, medical malpractice etc.

Raya understands that there is not a “one-size-fit-all” approach to cases, and discovers practical solutions to resolve complex issues. Her approach is one that considers her client’s business when devising a file resolution strategy.

In her spare time, Raya can be found attending a local concert, travelling with her family and friends, and baking sweet treats in the kitchen.
