Retailers can face a wide variety of claims, including occupier’s liability claims, negligence claims, nuisance claims, product liability claims and class actions. Our Retail Risk Group works with a number of industry leaders, including retailers, food and beverage providers, supermarkets, restaurants, sports facilities, adjusting firms and national and international corporations. We also welcome opportunities to work with new and emerging businesses.

We focus on managing claims in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, including resolving matters informally or through mediation, whether early or later in the litigation. Our team has represented clients at all levels of court in British Columbia. We have extensive trial experience, including successes in jury and non-jury trials. While our work is primarily in British Columbia, Alberta and the Yukon, our professional network enables us to meet our clients’ needs in other Canadian jurisdictions and internationally.

Our Retail Risk Group is sensitive to the public presentation of the retailers we work with. We tailor our services for each client and work within your organization’s specific policies and guidelines. We support and complement the role of in-house counsel, risk management teams and insurance representatives.

We also support our clients with risk management. We design and give feedback on waivers, provide opinions regarding indemnity agreements in contracts, assist in the development of standard releases, consult on inspection and maintenance protocols and provide updates on new key decisions that will impact our clients.
